Have you ever dreamed of visiting the wondrous pyramids of Egypt, the exquisite Old City of Jerusalem, or the legendary Treasury, carved entirely from a sandstone rock face in Petra, Jordan? On Beyond Cruises’ new small ship itinerary, Gods, Kings, and Pharaohs, you have the perfect opportunity to visit all three of these bucket list UNESCO World Heritage sites on one mega yacht cruise!
In Israel, starting from January 19, 2019, Beyond Cruises’ passengers will depart from Israel’s Herzliya Marina, the first time ever a commercial vessel has been allowed to use this posh private marina for a port of call. Passengers will continue their Bucket List experience when they board this modern, elegant 50 passenger Mega Yacht, Harmony V, as they embark on this intimate journey through three countries, Israel, Egypt and Jordan, steeped in history, archaeology and the story of human civilization.
Start checking off your bucket list in the ancient yet modern city of Jerusalem for a three-day pre-cruise excursion exploring the historic pilgrimage sites holy for Jews, Christians and Muslims alike. Visit the Old City, Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the Via Dolorosa, the Kotel (Western Wall) and its tunnels, the Tower of David, and wander through the old city market (Souq). In the evenings, allow time to dine at one of the trendy new restaurants in the new city market, Machane Yehuda, and then hit the hot new Jerusalem bar scene at night.
Then on to Tel Aviv, the “city that never sleeps,” and the Herzliya Marina just north of the city. Set sail on the Mediterranean Sea and down through the historic Suez Canal to Egypt, site of enduring monuments, colorful pharaohs, and legendary gods.
Visit Cairo, Egypt’s timeless capital, and take an excursion to discover the world-famous Pyramids of Giza and the awe-inspiring Egyptian Museum. Before departing Egypt, guests will take a two-day land excursion to Luxor, known as the greatest open-air museum in the world. Once the southern section of the ancient capital of Thebes, the Karnak and Luxor Temples, the Valley of the Kings and Queens, and the Temple of Hatshepsut are only a few of the breath-taking sites to visit in Luxor.
The cruise finishes in Jordan, a country with spectacular beauty, glorious monuments, sun scorched dunes and man-made oases. Discover the marvels that await in the world-famous city of Petra and see the Ancient City, the Royal Tombs, and the fabled Treasury, built as a tomb for the Nabataean King Aretas IV. Travel from Petra to Amman and stop in city of Madaba, known for its Byzantine-era mosaics, including the oldest surviving map of the Holy Lands on the floor of St. George’s Church. Your once in a lifetime bucket list experience culminates with a night in the Jordanian capital of Amman, itself home to historic ruins like the Citadel, the Roman Temple of Hercules, and the 8th-Century Umayyad Palace Complex.
